Bp Jerzy Mazur SVD leads Mass for 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi's death
Bishop Jerzy Mazur led a Mass at the parish of Bożego Ciała in Suwałki to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. The celebration, held at the parish served by Franciscans, included a classical music concert by the Quarta Musica ensemble and was attended by Suwałki city officials.
During his homily, Bishop Mazur described the jubilee as a time to express gratitude for the spiritual legacy of St. Francis. He noted that the presence of the Franciscans in Suwałki serves as a sign of the saint's living charism. The bishop also spoke about the importance of remaining in Christ to bear fruit in faith, citing the life and conversion of St. Francis as a primary example.
