Diocesan Priests Gather for Annual Retreat Focused on Spiritual Direction and Inner Healing

Priests of the Diocese of Saint John’s-Basseterre gathered at the Verandah Resort and Spa in Antigua from October 19 to 23, 2026, for their annual retreat. The week of prayer and reflection focused on the theme of spiritual direction and inner healing to prepare the clergy for the upcoming pastoral year.

The retreat used insights from the book Be Healed by Bob Schuchts to examine the connection between emotional health, spiritual well-being, and personal wounds. Participants discussed the differences between spiritual direction, counseling, psychotherapy, and mentoring to better understand how people receive guidance in their faith.

The diocese stated the retreat served as a time for personal renewal and rest for the priests. The sessions were intended to strengthen the capacity of the clergy to accompany others on their spiritual journeys.
