Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Diocese of San Sebastián inaugurated its diocesan synod on Saturday, October 17, at the San Sebastián Seminary. Approximately 350 people attended the opening event, which serves as a step in the renewal process for the Church in Gipuzkoa.

During the meeting, Bishop Fernando Prado Ayuso addressed the attendees and led them in the synod prayer. Vicar General Mikel Aranguren explained the purpose of the synod as a tool for communion, participation, and ecclesial renewal. The event included presentations on the fundamental principles of the synodal process, which seeks to listen, dialogue, and discern the future of the local Church.

Luzia Alberro, the diocesan chancellor and general secretary, presented the various stages of the process. The gathering was led by episcopal delegates Jon Arruti for education and Idoia Iturrioz for the laity.
