OLMA’s Erin Malixi scores in tennis and science
Erin Malixi, a senior at Our Lady of Mercy Academy, has become the school's top tennis singles player while maintaining a position among the top five academic students in her class.
Malixi transitioned from gymnastics to tennis to allow for more involvement in school activities. After playing as the third singles player during her junior year and earning seven wins, she moved to first singles this year to compete in the Cape-Atlantic League. She noted that playing challenge matches against experienced teammates during her freshman year helped her improve quickly.
In addition to her athletic performance, Malixi focuses on science and math. She stated that her interest in STEM subjects stems from her family background.
