Pope Leo XIV approves six new venerables
Pope Leo XIV approved the heroic virtues of six people, including an Argentine laywoman and a missionary who worked in Peru, according to the Holy See. During an audience on Saturday, the Pope authorized Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, to promulgate the decrees for the new venerables.
The recognized individuals include Margarita Bavosi, a consecrated laywoman of the Focolare Movement from Argentina. Friedrich Kaiser Depel, a prelate of the Prelature of Caravelí and founder of the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Jesus Word and Victim, was also recognized. Orestes Marengo, an Italian Salesian who served as Apostolic Administrator of Tura in India, was included in the group.
The remaining venerables are diocesan priest Domenico Pogliani, founder of the Institute of the Holy Family, Alessandro Vitetti, and Capuchin friar Daniele di San Giovanni Rotondo.
