Pope Leo XIV sends video message to Assisi peace meeting

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV sent a video message to participants of the International Meeting for Peace in Assisi, organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio. The Pope sent the message due to medical recommendations.

The meeting, titled "Disarmed and Disarming Peace," marks the 40th anniversary of the Day of Prayer for Peace established by Pope John Paul II. In his message, Pope Leo XIV stated that war can never be waged in the name of God and urged participants to be unarmed instruments of the Lord's peace. He called for peace to become a common ideal for all peoples and encouraged prayer as a humble strength for believers against a culture of power.
