Pope Leo XIV secures Oleshky truce

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a humanitarian truce in the besieged city of Oleshky, located in southern Ukraine under Russian occupation. The agreement follows an appeal from Pope Leo XIV, who urged a ceasefire during a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin one week ago.

The papal almoner is scheduled to travel to Ukraine next week to deliver food and medicine.
