What Pope Leo’s Magnifica Humanitas is asking me to consider

Catholic Intelligence1 min read

Pope Leo XIV released his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, which was launched at the Vatican Synod Hall in Rome. The document draws on Catholic social doctrine and magisterial teaching to address contemporary issues, including the role of artificial intelligence.

The encyclical was signed on May 15, coinciding with the 135th anniversary of Rerum Novarum, the 1891 letter by Pope Leo XIII regarding human dignity. According to a contributor for Catholic Outlook, the text is characterized by its theological depth and its application of Catholic thought to the modern world.
