Pope Leo XIV to receive Groupe Hera delegation

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with a delegation from Groupe Hera on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Clementine Hall in the Apostolic Palace. The meeting focused on the protection of creation and the group's work in waste management and recycling.

During the exchange, the pope thanked the group for its efforts, including its work at the Vatican. He urged a move away from consumerist models toward a culture of care that preserves planetary resources for future generations.

The pope described the protection of the world as an original mission found in the Bible. He noted that the current ecological challenge is urgent due to uncontrolled resource consumption and the increasing difficulty of managing and disposing of large amounts of waste.
