History
Created in 1053, the Diocese of Aversa (Latin: Dioecesis Aversana) is a Latin see of the Catholic Church in Campania, southern Italy. It lies in the Terra di Lavoro (Liburia), seven miles north of Naples and eight miles south of Capua, and is suffragan to the Archdiocese of Naples.

The Diocese of Aversa presented its plan for the 2026-2027 pastoral year to its priests on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Held at the Sala Guitmondo of the Aversa diocesan seminary, the presentation outlined the theme and scheduled activities for the upcoming year. The program focuses on laypeople and follows the guidelines of the document Radicati e costruiti in Cristo, which provides directions for implementing the summary document of the synodal journey for churches in Italy titled Lievito di pace e di speranza.

Diocese of Aversa holds first meeting for 2026/2027 pastoral year
The Diocese of Aversa held its first planning meeting for the 2026/2027 pastoral year on September 19, 2026. Mother Superiors and leaders of religious communities in the diocese met at the Monastery of San Biagio in Aversa to coordinate community activities for the upcoming year. The diocese announced the theme for the new pastoral year: "Consecrated, women of proximity and care." This theme encourages consecrated women to live their vocation through attentive presence and service to those experiencing fragility. The meeting included discussions on past progress and future perspectives for the various religious communities. The gathering concluded with a communal meal.
