Brasília is the metropolitan archdiocese of Brazil's federal capital, erected as a diocese on January 16, 1960 and elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese on October 11, 1966. It is led by Cardinal Paulo Cezar Costa, archbishop since December 2020.
