History

Palácio Episcopal de Guaxupé celebrates 100 years of history
The Episcopal Palace of Guaxupé marks 100 years since its inauguration on September 12, 1926. The building serves as the bishop's residence and acts as a historical landmark for both the Diocese of Guaxupé and the city. Construction of the palace began under Bishop Ranulpho da Silva Farias, who blessed the first stone on March 2, 1924. Following a public bidding process published in the Gazeta Commercial newspaper in April 1924, the project moved forward with community collaboration. Ramon Castro Garcia was responsible for the building plans and later supervised the construction. By the end of 1924, the walls, windows, and portals were completed, and the structure was ready for the roof.
