History
In Santa Catarina state, within the ecclesiastical province of Chapecó, lies the Diocese of Joaçaba (Latin: Dioecesis Ioassabensis). Its seat is the Cathedral of St. Therese of the Child of Jesus in Joaçaba. Neighboring it are the Catarinense dioceses of Chapecó, Caçador and Lages, the dioceses of Erexim and Vacaria to the south, and the diocese of Palmas-Francisco Beltrão to the north.
