Latin-rite metropolitan archdiocese in the People's Republic of China, first established in 1307 as the Archdiocese of Khanbaliq under John of Montecorvino, restored as the Diocese of Beijing in 1690 and promoted to metropolitan archdiocese on 11 April 1946. Its cathedral is the Church of the Saviour (North Church), restored as the cathedral after renovations in 2018. Archbishop Joseph Li Shan leads the archdiocese.
