Its Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Dali notably incorporates traditional Chinese architectural elements. The see is vacant; its last apostolic administrator, Lawrence Zhang Wen-Chang, died in 2012.

History
A Latin Catholic see in the ecclesiastical province of Kunming in southwestern China, the Diocese of Dali/Tali (Latin: Talian(us), Chinese: 大理) is seated in the city of Dali. The Vatican named Lawrence Zhang Wen-Chang its Apostolic Administrator in 2000, an office he held until his death in 2012.
