Latin Church diocese seated at Yuanling in Hunan, China, suffragan of the Archdiocese of Changsha. Erected on March 13, 1925 as the Apostolic Prefecture of Chenzhou from the Apostolic Vicariate of Changde, promoted and renamed Apostolic Vicariate of Yuanling in 1934, and promoted to diocese on April 11, 1946. The see has been vacant since 1968; Archbishop Methodius Qu Ailin has served as apostolic administrator since 2012.

History

In the county of Yuanling in Hunan, China, sits the Diocese of Yuanling (Latin: Iuen-limen(sis), Chinese: 沅陵, 辰州), a Latin Church jurisdiction of the Catholic Church. A suffragan in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Changsha, it nonetheless depends on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The episcopal seat has been vacant since 1968, though an apostolic administrator has served since 2012.
