Latin rite diocese in the Greater Santo Domingo area covering Santo Domingo Este, San Antonio de Guerra and Boca Chica, erected on 27 August 2025 by Pope Leo XIV from territory of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo, of which it is a suffragan. It counts 64 parishes and about 943,762 Catholics. Its first bishop, Manuel Antonio Ruiz de la Rosa, was appointed the day the diocese was erected, with its seat at the Catedral Stella Maris in Santo Domingo Este.
