The borders of the Diocese of Huelva (Latin: Dioecesis Onubensis) match those of the civil province of Huelva in the autonomous community of Andalusia, in south-western Spain. This Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church belongs to the Ecclesiastical Province of Seville and is thus suffragan to the Archdiocese of Seville.

    The Diocese of Huelva will hold a day of prayer and awareness to address precarious working conditions that affect many families. The program begins at 19.00 at Plaza de las Monjas with a public demonstration representing the difficulties workers face in maintaining a dignified life. During this event, organizers will distribute keychains to symbolize the shared responsibility of building a society with fair labor conditions. Participants will then move to the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción for the Eucharist for Decent Work at 20.00. Bishop Santiago Gómez Sierra will preside over the Mass. The Church of Huelva organized the event through the Iniciativa de Iglesia por el Trabajo Decente to express its commitment to improving the lives of men and women facing unstable employment.

  • Diocese of Huelva invites to celebrate World Migrant and Refugee Day

    The Diocese of Huelva invites the community to celebrate World Migrant and Refugee Day on Saturday, September 26, at the Casa de la Iglesia in Huelva. The Diocesan Secretariat of Migrations organized the event to focus on the dignity and vulnerability of children and adolescents experiencing migration and displacement. The program begins at 11:00 h with a round table discussion to share perspectives and experiences regarding the reception and support of migrant and refugee minors. This is followed by Mass at 13:00 h. The event concludes at 14:00 h with a shared lunch.

  • Bishop of Huelva presides over Eucharist

    Bishop Santiago Gómez Sierra presided over a Mass to mark the start of the 2026-2027 academic year at the University of Huelva on September 18. The celebration took place at the Santa María Sedes Sapientiae University Church. During his homily on the parable of the talents, Bishop Gómez Sierra encouraged students, professors, and researchers to use their gifts to serve the truth and society. He stated that the Eucharist serves as a school of life where knowledge and talents reach fulfillment through service to others. The Mass included representatives from the university and other institutions. Attendees included the university pastoral delegate Enrique Uzcátegui Rodríguez, the rector of the diocesan seminary Juan José Feria Toscano, and priest Ignacio Virseda.
