  • Bishop Sebastián Chico Martínez presides over the canonical coronation of Nuestra Señora del Alcázar

Bishop Sebastián Chico Martínez presided over the canonical coronation of Nuestra Señora del Alcázar, the patron saint of Baeza, during a solemn Mass. The event drew more than 7,000 faithful and devotees to the city. The celebration included several bishops, including retired bishops Ramón del Hoyo López and Amadeo Rodríguez Magro. Other participating clergy included Vicar General José Antonio Sánchez, territorial vicar Bartolomé López, the parish priest of Santa María del Alcázar and San Andrés Apóstol Andrés Nájera, and Cathedral Dean Francisco Juan Martínez Rojas. The coronation took place as Baeza commemorates eight centuries of the restoration of Christian worship. During the procession, 68 damas horquilleras carried the image of the Virgin along the paseo de la Constitución. The ceremony was attended by Baeza Mayor Pedro Javier Cabrera Rentero, municipal officials, and members of the Real Archicofradía de Santa María del Alcázar y San Andrés Apóstol.

  • Diocese of Jaén selects logo for Jubilee Year

The Diocese of Jaén has selected an official logo for the upcoming Diocesan Jubilee Year, which commemorates the 800th anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin of the Cabeza. The winning design, titled "800 years of faith, history, and devotion," was created by artist Francisco Galán Galán. A jury chose the proposal from more than 25 entries submitted from different points in the geography and from other countries, such as Brazil. The design uses the number 8 to represent the pilgrim's path and the infinite nature of a devotion passed down through generations. The competition sought a versatile graphic brand that could be adapted to various formats and media. The Jubilee Year is scheduled to begin on October 4.
