History

Erected in 1956, the Diocese of Gary (Latin: Dioecesis Gariensis) serves the Catholic Church in northwest Indiana in the United States. It belongs as a suffragan see to the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Its mother church is the Cathedral of the Holy Angels in Gary, and its bishop is Robert J. McClory.
