History
Northwestern and central Nebraska in the United States form the territory of the Diocese of Grand Island (Latin: Dioecesis Insulae Grandis). The diocese belongs to the ecclesiastical province of Omaha as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Omaha. Its seat is the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Grand Island, and Joseph G. Hanefeldt has served as bishop since March 19, 2015.
