The Diocese of Murang'a in central Kenya was established on 17 March 1983 from territory of the Diocese of Nyeri and is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Nyeri. Its seat is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Murang'a. Bishop James Maria Wainaina Kungu has led the diocese since 27 June 2009; Wikipedia reported about 695,800 Catholics (2004).

History
Murang'a in Kenya is the seat of a Roman Catholic diocese (Latin: Dioecesis Murangaënsis) that forms part of the ecclesiastical province of Nyeri.
