History
Southern New Mexico in the United States is served by the Diocese of Las Cruces (Latin: Dioecesis Cruciensis, Spanish: Diócesis de Las Cruces), a suffragan see of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Its mother church is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces, and Peter Baldacchino is its bishop.

Pope Leo XIV upholds Archbishop Fulton Sheen's legacy ahead of beatification
Pope Leo XIV expressed his hope that the example of Archbishop Fulton Sheen will inspire people to find new ways of spreading the Gospel with joyful enthusiasm. During a general audience on September 23, the pope spoke about the upcoming beatification of the American bishop, which was scheduled for September 24 in St. Louis, Missouri. Archbishop Sheen was a media pioneer known for his 1950s television program "Life is Worth Living" and served as the bishop of Rochester, New York, from 1966 to 1969. Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the papal legate, is scheduled to preside at the beatification Mass.

Bishop Peter Baldacchino attends Southwest Coalition office ribbon cutting
Bishop Peter Baldacchino attended the ribbon cutting for the new Southwest Coalition office on Friday. Deacon Ed also joined the event. Following the office opening, approximately 40 people gathered on Sunday for a Mass kickoff rally in Santa Teresa. Father Theo and Deacon Salazar from JPII assisted with the outdoor Mass.
