The Archdiocese of Santa Fe was established as a vicariate apostolic in 1850 and raised to an archdiocese in 1875. It is the metropolitan see for New Mexico and Arizona, led by Archbishop John C. Wester.

History
In the southwestern United States, the state of New Mexico is home to the Catholic Archdiocese of Santa Fe (Latin: Archidioecesis Sanctae Fidei in America Septentrionali, Spanish: Arquidiócesis de Santa Fe). Its mother church, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, stands in the city of Santa Fe, yet the archdiocese conducts its administration from Albuquerque, roughly sixty miles distant. John Charles Wester is the current archbishop.
