History
Central Kentucky is home to the Archdiocese of Louisville (Latin: Archidiœcesis Ludovicopolitanais), the second-oldest diocese west of the Appalachian Mountains. As the metropolitan see of the province of Louisville, its province takes in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee. The Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville is the cathedral church, and Shelton Fabre is the archbishop.

Sisters of Charity of Nazareth respond to Nepal flooding
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth are working with local partners to provide shelter, bedding, clothing, and hygiene supplies to families affected by catastrophic flooding in Nepal. According to a report from the congregation, sisters in the region are also accompanying displaced families as they navigate the disaster. Sister Jackulin Jesu, president of the congregation, and Sister Oliva Kujur, who has assisted in delivering relief, shared reflections on the situation. The flooding has also impacted communities in Bihar, India, where sisters and other responders are assisting families and clinics affected by downstream floodwaters. Donations to the Nepal Flood Aid 2026 fund are intended to meet immediate needs and support long term recovery efforts.
