History

No Latin Catholic archdiocese in Poland is older than Gniezno (Latin: Archidioecesis Gnesnensis, Polish: Archidiecezja Gnieźnieńska), seated in the city of that name. Its ecclesiastical province takes in two suffragan dioceses, Bydgoszcz and Włocławek.

  • Archidiecezja Gnieźnieńska to celebrate XXVI Dzień Papieski

    The Archdiocese of Gniezno will celebrate the 26th Day of the Pope on Sunday, October 11. This year's theme, "St. John Paul II, Disciple-Missionary," encourages people to follow the teachings of the late pope by living out Christian witness through service to the poor and those who suffer. The celebrations include several pilgrimages. Young people from Inowrocław and Kruszwica will travel to the Sanctuary of Our Lady, Queen of Love and Peace in Markowice, while others will journey from Gniezno to Pola Lednickie and from Rogoźno to Parkowo. As part of the event, the archdiocese will hold its annual collection for the scholarship fund for young people supported by the Fundacja Dzieło Nowego Tysiąclecia. Scholarship recipients will share their testimonies at the Gniezno Cathedral and in their home parishes.
