Latin-rite diocese in central Poland, erected 25 March 1992 from the Diocese of Lodz, the Diocese of Plock and the Archdiocese of Warsaw. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lodz. Its mother church is the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas in Lowicz.

History
Seated in the city of Łowicz, within the ecclesiastical province of Łódż in Poland, this Latin diocese (Latin: Dioecesis Lovicensis) has as its cathedral the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas. That church stands among Poland's official national Historic Monuments (Pomnik historii), a designation granted on November 13, 2012, on a listing maintained by the National Heritage Board of Poland.
