History

In Emilia-Romagna, Italy, the Latin diocese known today as Reggio Emilia-Guastalla (Latin: Dioecesis Regiensis in Aemilia-Guastallensis) took its present shape in 1986, when the historical Diocese of Reggio Emilia was united with the Diocese of Guastalla. In its early period the see belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Milan and later answered to the Archbishop of Ravenna; today it stands as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Modena-Nonantola.
