History

Romania's Latin metropolitan see is the Archdiocese of Bucharest (Latin: Archidioecesis Bucarestiensis), with its cathedral episcopal see in Bucharest. Ioan Robu, who had earlier served as Apostolic Administrator from 25 October 1984, held the office of archbishop from 1990 until retiring on 21 November 2019. His successor is Aurel Percă, who before this appointment had served as auxiliary bishop of Iaşi.
