The Archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino is a metropolitan Latin Church archdiocese in Tuscany, Italy, with origins in the 4th century and raised to metropolitan status in 1459 by Pope Pius II. It assumed its present form in 1986 when the dioceses of Colle di Val d'Elsa and Montalcino merged with Siena, and is led by Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice since 2019.

History

In Tuscany, the Latin Church maintains the Archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino (Latin: Archidioecesis Senensis-Collensis-Ilcinensis), whose archbishop is seated at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Siena. For centuries, until 1459, the diocese answered immediately to the Holy See (Papacy) and its bishops attended the Roman synods; in that year Pope Pius II raised Siena to a metropolitan archbishopric.

    McDonald’s on Via Toselli in Siena is donating 40 hot meals every Wednesday to the San Francesco all’Alberino parish. The distribution began on September 23, 2026, and is scheduled to continue until November 29, 2026. Each weekly delivery includes a filled sandwich, a piece of fruit, and a dessert. The restaurant staff prepares the meals, which are then collected and distributed by the parish Caritas to 15 families in need. Don Massimo Meioli, the parish priest, said the donations serve as a sign of solidarity and help the community remain attentive to those in need during this year dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi. He noted that the gesture provides hope to people facing difficulties.
