History
Centered on Dili, Timor-Leste's capital and largest city, the Archdiocese of Dili (Latin: Archidioecesis Diliensis; Portuguese: Arquidiocese de Díli; Tetum: Arkidioseze Dili) is the oldest of the country's three dioceses, established by Pope Pius XII in 1940. Pope Francis raised this Latin Church see to a metropolitan archdiocese in 2019, and it now counts two suffragan dioceses, Baucau and Maliana.
