The Diocese of Madison is a Latin Rite see covering eleven counties in south-central and southwestern Wisconsin, erected in 1946 and suffragan to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Bishop Donald J. Hying has led the diocese since 2019; St. Bernard Catholic Church serves as the cathedral after the original St. Raphael Cathedral was destroyed by fire in 2005.
