Bishop Emilio E. Biosca, O.F.M. Cap. celebrates Masses for St. Francis of Assisi
Bishop Emilio E. Biosca, O.F.M. Cap., celebrated three Masses and participated in evening prayer to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. The commemorations took place in the Diocese of Venice on Oct. 3 and 4, 2026, as part of the Franciscan Jubilee Year.
The Bishop celebrated the first Mass on Oct. 3 at Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Lakewood Ranch. He held subsequent Masses on Oct. 4 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Grove City and at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Retreat Center in Venice. St. Francis of Assisi Parish served as the diocesan sacred Jubilee site for the year.
During the celebrations, Bishop Biosca shared insights from his Capuchin perspective regarding the life, conversion, ministry, and death of the saint. He noted that the life of St. Francis should serve as an example for people to listen to God's word and follow His will.
