Caritas Tunisie and Caritas of Sicily strengthen partnership

Caritas Tunisie and the Caritas organizations of Sicily completed the first phase of a twinning project during a visit to Tunisia that concluded on September 28. The visit included four Caritas Tunisie staff members, the bishop of Tunis, and the director of Caritas Tunisie.

The delegation met with the bishops of the Tunisian Episcopal Conference and the directors of Caritas from the 18 dioceses of Sicily. These meetings were intended to identify commonalities between the two regions to help develop future collaborative projects.

This exchange follows a series of previous meetings established through the twinning agreement. In 2024, staff from Caritas Tunisie traveled to Sicily with Bishop Ilario. In September 2025, Sicilian bishops visited Tunis, and in April 2026, seven Sicilian Caritas directors visited Tunisia.
