Cardinal Fernando Chomali presents pastoral letter to politicians

Cardinal Fernando Chomali presented a pastoral letter titled "You are the face of your people, your representatives" to political leaders on Monday. The document addresses the ethical challenges of public office and the need to strengthen democracy, promote dialogue, and prioritize the common good in political decisions.

The presentation took place at the Papa Francisco Hall before approximately 150 representatives from various political sectors and public organizations, including parliamentarians, former authorities, and municipal officials. Paulina Vodanovic and the Mayor of Independencia, Agustín Iglesias, shared reflections on the role of politics in society during the event.

Cardinal Chomali stated that political work should be viewed as a vocation of service inspired by charity and justice rather than a mere pursuit of power. This letter is the latest in a series of pastoral reflections issued by the cardinal this year to different groups, including families, teachers, youth, and business leaders.
