Church schools lead 24 Erasmus+ projects worth around €1 million
Church schools in Malta and Gozo are leading 24 of the 82 Erasmus+ projects currently active in Malta, involving an investment of approximately €1 million. These projects offer learning and mobility opportunities to more than 600 students, teachers, and educational staff.
The Secretariat for Catholic Education presented these figures at an event titled Celebrating Success, Inspiring New Beginnings to showcase the results of Church schools participating in Erasmus+ and other funding programs. While more than 50 Church schools have received support through these programs, eleven schools are now officially accredited under Erasmus+.
The mobility projects include student exchanges, educator training, job-shadowing, and collaborations with various European schools and organizations. The program also facilitates two-way exchanges by allowing Maltese schools to host educators and students from other countries.
Rev. Dr. Mark Ellul, Delegate for Catholic Education, said the projects allow pupils and educators to learn and grow through European partnerships that promote innovation, inclusion, and professional development. Dr. Ian Mifsud, Director General of the Secretariat for Catholic Education, noted that the program strengthens schools through international partnerships and mobility.
