Pope Leo XIV tells Sisters of Charity that charity restores human dignity

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with delegates from the general chapter of the Sisters of Charity to congratulate the newly elected Mother General.

During the audience, the Pope spoke about the legacy of the order's founder, Saint Giovanna Antida Thouret, who dedicated her life to the poor, the sick, and the marginalized. He stated that in a fragmented society, charity can restore human dignity. He encouraged the sisters to cultivate care for others by seeking the integral good of their neighbors, including both spiritual and temporal needs.
