Pope Leo XIV receives participants of the congress «La santidad en la historia» in audience

Catholic Intelligence1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with participants of the congress "Holiness in History" during an audience at the Apostolic Palace. The meeting followed the conclusion of the congress, which the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints organized from October 19 to 21 at the Augustinianum Patristic Institute.

During the audience, the Pope stated that canonization processes must rely on serious research of documentary sources and testimonies that are authentic and credible. He noted that the lives of saints should be studied within their specific historical and cultural contexts to understand how they lived the Gospel in their own time.

The congress brought together experts to examine the relationship between theology, history, and the processes of beatification and canonization. Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, opened the event. Representatives from the Diocese of Segorbe-Castellón de la Plana, including Recaredo Salvador, Jorge Mateu, and Giovanna Brizi, attended the gathering.
