Pope Leo XIV sets October prayer intention for mental health ministry

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV has dedicated his prayer intention for October to mental health ministry. In a video released Oct. 1, the Pope called on the Church to support people suffering from mental illnesses without discrimination or stigma.

The Pope noted that while modern understanding of mental health has improved, many people still face silent suffering, including those dealing with anxiety and depression. He requested prayers for the professionals, family members, and volunteers who care for those in crisis. He also asked that the Church serve as a safe space that listens without judgment and accompanies those in need rather than excluding them.
