History

Erected in 1948 and directly subject to the Holy See, the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn is a Latin Church territory embracing the Australian Capital Territory together with the South West Slopes, Southern Tablelands, Monaro and South Coast regions of New South Wales. The archbishop's seat is St Christopher's Cathedral at Manuka. Christopher Prowse, then Bishop of Sale, was named the next archbishop on 12 September 2013 and was installed on 19 November 2013.
