Latin-rite diocese in northwestern Hungary, believed founded in 1009 by King St. Stephen I. Suffragan of the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest, with its seat at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady in Gyor. Bishop Andras Veres has led the diocese since 17 May 2016.

The cathedral

History
Tradition holds that King Stephen I of Hungary established the Diocese of Győr in 1009, at the same time as most of the country's other dioceses. A Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in Hungary (Hungarian: Győri Egyházmegye, German: Bistum Raab, Latin: Dioecesis Iaurinensis), it is suffragan to the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest. The Cathedral Basilica of Győr bears a dedication to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Lajos Pápai, appointed in 1991, is the current bishop.

Uzsalyné Pécsi Rita, an educational researcher, will give a lecture in Győr to help parents and educators connect with teenagers. The presentation addresses the challenges of understanding adolescent behavior and offers methods for supporting young people during the school year. The Diocese of Győr announced that the event is open to everyone, though attendees must register in advance. While the lecture is free, the organizers will accept donations at the venue to cover costs.
