Byzantine-rite eparchy of the Hungarian Greek Catholic Church, erected 20 March 2015 from territory of the Eparchy of Hajdudorog. Suffragan of the Archeparchy of Hajdudorog, with its seat at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Nyiregyhaza. Eparch Abel Szocska, O.S.B.M., was appointed 7 April 2018.

History

Within the Hungarian Greek Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic church celebrating the Byzantine Rite in Hungarian, the Eparchy of Nyíregyháza serves as one of the sees. Its cathedral church, Szent Miklós Görögkatolikus székesegyház, is located in the city of Nyíregyháza, Hungary. The eparchy is suffragan to the Archeparchy of Hajdúdorog, a Metropolitanate sui juris and the only province of the Greek Catholics in Hungary.
