History
St. Stephen, the first King of Hungary, created this diocese in 1008. Seated at Vác, the Diocese of Vác (Latin: Dioecesis Vaciensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory of the Catholic Church in Hungary, originally known in German as the "Diocese of Waitzen". It serves as a suffragan see within the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Eger. Zsolt Marton, appointed in 2019, is the current bishop.
