It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, with St. Anthony's Cathedral in Bellary as its seat. Its patron is St. Anthony of Padua.

With its episcopal see at Bellary, the Diocese of Bellary (Latin: Bellaryen(sis)) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory of the Catholic Church in India, a suffragan within the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Bangalore.
