History
Announced by Pope Benedict XVI on 16 July 2012, the Diocese of Udupi (Latin: Dioecesis Udupiensis) has its seat in the Kallianpur town of Udupi District, Karnataka, India. Its territory takes in six civil talukas: Udupi, Bramavara, Karkala, Kapu, Kundapura and Byndoor, and the diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Bangalore. It now counts 47 parishes. Its newly elevated Cathedral was previously a parish church, the "Church of Our Lady of Miracles" or the Milagres Church: the parish was partitioned from the Mangalore Diocese, and the parish church was raised to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Miracles.
What is kept by invitation
The record above is published because it is public: what this see is, when it was erected, who holds its chair, and where it stands among its neighbours.
The working record is not. The chancery's address, telephone and email, the clergy of the see, and the hours of Mass, confession and adoration in the parishes within it are kept for members, and a person reads every request.
