History
On the west bank of the Niger River, between Benin City to the west and Onitsha to the east, sits the city of Issele-Uku in Delta State, seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku (Latin: Isseleukuan(us)). The diocese belongs to the ecclesiastical province of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, and takes in six local government areas in the northern portion of Delta State. Its neighbors are the Archdiocese of Onitsha to the east, the Archdiocese of Benin City to the west, the Diocese of Uromi to the north, and the Diocese of Warri to the south.
