History
Seated in Lilongwe, Malawi, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe (Latin: Archidioecesis Lilongvensis) belonged to the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Blantyre until its own elevation to archdiocese in 2011. Maula Cathedral stands in the town of Lilongwe.

24TH OCTOBER 2026 – FUNDARISING YA ASEMINO
The Archdiocese of Lilongwe will hold a fundraising event on October 24, 2026, to support seminarians studying in Malawi and abroad. According to a letter from the office of the bishop's chancellor, the funds will assist seminarians with their studies as they prepare for the priesthood. The event aims to collect money to help these students continue their formation.

Communication on New Appointments
Archbishop George Tambala has announced several new appointments for priests, religious members, and pastoral staff within the Archdiocese of Lilongwe. The new assignments cover various roles in parishes, deaneries, chaplaincies, and pastoral ministries. The changes also affect positions at Radio Alinafe, local schools, and other Archdiocesan offices. Most of these appointments take effect immediately.
