History

No Latin Catholic archdiocese in Poland is older than Gniezno (Latin: Archidioecesis Gnesnensis, Polish: Archidiecezja Gnieźnieńska), seated in the city of that name. Its ecclesiastical province takes in two suffragan dioceses, Bydgoszcz and Włocławek.

  • Prymas Poland Abp. Wojciech Polak leads retreat for parents of priests and consecrated persons

    Archbishop Wojciech Polak led a retreat from September 18 to 20 for parents of priests and consecrated persons from the Archdiocese of Gniezno. Held at the Seminary in Gniezno, the event marked the first time such a gathering was organized for these families. The retreat provided a space for parents to pray for their sons and daughters, pray for all clergy, and ask for new vocations. Participants also shared personal experiences regarding the daily ministry of their children. Father Andrzej Nowicki gave lectures titled "From the Family Table to the Lord's Table." During the opening Mass, Archbishop Polak spoke about the obedience of Jesus to Mary and Joseph. On the second day, Bishop Radosław Orchowicz visited the group and spoke about remaining steadfast through life's difficulties, using the parable of the sower to illustrate how the Word of God encounters different conditions in daily life.
