• Bishop D. Fernando Paiva opens III Conference of Cáritas Diocesana

  Bishop Fernando de Paiva opened the III Conference of the Cáritas Diocesana de Beja on September 23. The event took place at Auditório II of the Escola Superior de Educação of the Universidade Politécnica de Beja under the theme Trauma, Sobrevivência & Decisão. Bishop Paiva encouraged attendees to look closely at those who often go unnoticed and to understand the suffering of others. He noted that compassion involves suffering alongside others and urged that this awareness lead to concrete acts of care. The bishop also emphasized that the Cáritas Diocesana achieves better results through networking and mutual aid rather than working in isolation. The opening session included Raquel Santana, Vice Reitora of the UPBeja, and Marciano Lopes, Vice-Presidente of the CCDR Alentejo. Márcio Guerra represented the Câmara Municipal de Beja.

• Bishop of Beja joins Caminhada pela Paz

  The Bishop of Beja joined participants in the Caminhada pela Paz, a walk through Beja intended to raise awareness about the urgent need for peace amid global conflicts. The event was one of 12 stops in Portugal for the initiative. Participants gathered at Praça da República, where organizer Lurdes Rodeia read a meditative text. Rodeia called on world leaders to listen to the innocent, children, and the elderly, while urging people to recognize human dignity, justice, and respect. The reflection also encouraged people to act as guardians of the planet rather than its owners or destroyers. The bishop walked through the city streets with the group from the starting point to the Jardim Público, where the walk concluded. Although the group was relatively small, organizers expressed hope that the event will return in 2027 with more participants.

• Núncio Apostólico presides Eucharist at Diocese of Beja's Dia Diocesano 2026

  The Apostolic Nuncio to Portugal presided over the Eucharist at the Beja Cathedral to conclude the 2026 Diocesan Day. Approximately 300 people from all deaneries attended the event held at the Beja Seminary under the theme "Beja, Walking in Hope – Communion, Participation, and Mission." During the morning prayer at the Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima, Bishop Fernando Paiva blessed and sent out missionary teams for upcoming pastoral visits. These teams will visit local communities to introduce the bishop, contact families door-to-door, and encourage community participation in the visits. In his welcome remarks, Bishop Paiva thanked participants for coming from across the large territory and described the gathering as a sign of the diocese acting as a single family.
