History
Southern Slovakia is home to this Latin Church diocese (Slovak: Rožňavská diecéza, Latin: Dioecesis Rosnaviensis), which takes in the central and eastern parts of the Banská Bystrica Region together with the western parts of the Košice Region. Seated in Rožňava, it extends over 7,000 km2 and counts 343,352 people, 58% of them Catholic (2004).
